On November 21, 2025, the results of the 2025 academician election of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) were announced.

Professor Liu Jianya, an alumnus of our college from the class of 1980 and currently affiliated with the School of Mathematics at Shandong University, was elected as an academician of CAS.

Liu Jianya studied at the Department of Mathematics of Hebei Normal University from 1980 to 1984. He is a Chair Professor at Shandong University, recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, fellow of the Ministry of Education’s National Major Talent Program, and one of the first batch of National Distinguished Teachers.

He has long been dedicated to the research of analytic number theory, focusing on the core fields of the Riemann Hypothesis and prime distribution. He took the lead in breaking through long-standing unsolved problems such as the subconvexity problem of automorphic L-functions and the Quantum Unique Ergodicity (QUE) conjecture. He creatively constructed a new research framework, applying high-order automorphic forms to prime distribution, and solved fundamental problems like the solvability of high-degree equations with prime variables. His systematic and creative contributions to the core fields of modern analytic number theory have consolidated and expanded China’s international leading position in this area.

He has successively won honors including the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Innovation Award, and the Shandong Provincial Highest Science and Technology Award.
